Some books that you should read
Reading experiences for most of us have changed drastically over the last few decades. While people do still buy paperbacks and hardbacks, many of us prefer the ease that eBooks offer readers. On your device, you can carry tens and hundreds of books and access them at any time, as long as your device is charged with the course. All you need to do is download the book and you’re good to go.
The Feel of a Paperback
While many readers have accepted the changes, some are still hooked to the feel of a physical book. You’ll probably have read about how books even have a certain smell that avid readers crave. But we can’t deny that the difference in formats makes no difference to the words in it. The words still have the same power no matter how you read them. Whether you’re on your kindle or holding a flexible paperback, or even listening to an audiobook, the impact of the book remains the same.
Engaging With the Content
Each format offers you the ability to engage with the content differently. With paperbacks, most of us know that we carry it around, read it when we have the time, and can absorb the information with ease. EBooks are not much different in this regard, except for the convenience that it offers readers. You can carry a single device that holds multiple books. If you’re not in the mood to read your current book, you can easily shift to another title and continue reading.
We also have audiobooks that are much more different than reading. Firstly, you aren’t reading, but listening to the narrator read it out. With audiobooks, you can listen to the book even while you are doing something else. Instead of listening to music on your walks and during your chores, you can listen to your audiobook. It helps you use your time efficiently and you’re bound to finish books faster.
Some Books That You Should Read
No matter what you choose, you must continue reading. Take out the time to read books, even if it’s just a half-hour before bed. If you can’t find any time, maybe even give audiobooks a try. You may be pleasantly surprised and even learn to appreciate audiobooks. Some books you should consider reading have been listed below.
To Kill A Mockingbird
A classic you’ve probably heard of before, To Kill A Mockingbird was a success immediately after its release. The book deals with a bunch of serious issues and leaves you wondering how messed up the past could be. It’s important to recognize that many of those biases and issues exist today, which makes the book such an important read. Consisting of memorable characters such as Boo Radley and most importantly, Atticus Finch whose sense of right and wrong is evident in his children too.
Jane Eyre
Charlotte Bronte’s most famous work, Jane Eyre is still as relevant today as it was then, minus the wife boarded up in the attic. Jane Eyre is a plain, but smart girl who is sent away to boarding school once her aunt decides she no longer wants her niece living at her home. There she begins to build a life for herself and decides to become independent. She eventually begins to teach at the same institute, advertises, and is rewarded for her efforts with an invitation from the Rochesters to be a governess to their ward. She meets Mr. Rochester and finds her feelings evolve into something more romantic.
The Book Thief
Narrated by death itself, The Book Thief follows the life of a young orphan girl Liesel Meminger. Liesel finds herself at the doorstep of her foster parents, the Hubermanns, in Nazi Germany. After a tumultuous beginning, she eventually begins to settle into her new life with the help of Hans Hubermann, who begins to help her how to read. Her life changes suddenly when she meets Max Vandenburg, a Jewish boy who the Hubermanns hide in their basement. The book is a thrilling read that describes the tragedies of war from a unique perspective.
Dracula
Bram Stoker released Dracula in 1897 but it’s still a favorite today. The epistolary novel narrates the events through Johnathan Harker’s journal entries, Mina Murray’s letters, and Dr. Seward’s recordings. Harker meets Dracula in his castle in Transylvania but gradually realizes that Count Dracula is dangerous, and escapes. When he returns to England, he and his wife join Van Helsing in his attempts to put an end to Dracula. Why watch the movie, when you can enjoy the book from each narrator’s perspective?
