Drawing a cute cat face can be more of a challenge than you might realize, and you might wish there were a few easy steps to follow.
How to Draw A Cat Face
Step 1
For this first step of our guide on drawing a cat face, you will need a light pencil to draw with.
We’ll use a pencil for now, as these shapes are meant to help you and won’t appear in the final drawing.
Start by drawing a fairly large circle. It can be something other than perfect, but try to make it as round as possible. Then draw two curved lines across the top of the circle to show where the ears will go.
Step 2
Use the shapes and stripes you drew in step 1, and you can use a shadier pen or pencil to sketch your cat’s face from now on.
The curved lines you drew above the circle will help you place the ear shapes. These are drawn with curved lines at the top at a sharp angle.
Then you can blend them with jagged lines in between to create a furry look on top of the head.
Step 3
You can continue to use the round shape you drew in step one for this part of this tutorial on how to draw a cat.
Using a few jagged lines, carefully draw around the pencil circle to form the outline of the head. The jagged lines reproduce the appearance of fur.
Once you’ve outlined the head, you can start erasing the pencil lines from step 1, as you shouldn’t need this anymore.
Step 4
We’re going to draw some eyes for your cat in this step. The eyes are made up of large circles containing smaller circles for the iris.
A few smaller circles in it form a glimmer in the eye. Finally, draw lines under the eyes to give them more personality.
Step 5
Your cat needs a nose, so let’s add one to this step!
For the nose, draw a small horizontal oval shape with two small circles at the bottom for the nostrils.
It’s that simple, and you’re ready for the next step!
Step 6
For step 7 of our how to draw a cat guide, we will add a mouth to your cat. Cats have a fairly distinctive mouth shape; you can draw them with two curved lines starting from the nose.
You can also add small lines for the lashes coming out of the eyes.
Step 7
It’s almost time to get creative with some color, but before we begin, let’s add some final touches to your cat face design.

The main detail is a pair of whiskers for your cat. These can originate from three topics above each angle of the mouth.
The mustache can be short, as in our reference image, but you can make it longer if you’d like!
Finally, you can use some triangular shapes in the ears to shape the inner parts of the ears.
Step 8
Now that you’ve reached the final step of this tutorial on how to draw a cat face, it’s your turn to get creative and top it off with some pretty colors!

We’ve shown one way you can color it for our picture, but cats can come in fantastic color combinations.
This means you can use whatever colors you love in your drawing! If you own a cat, you could color your picture to look like your real cat!
There are also so many artistic mediums that you could use for your image. Whether you go with acrylics, watercolors, crayons, pencils, or anything else, we know you’ll do a great job!
