In November 2015, the national transport company of Oman, Mwasalat, unveiled its new identity and began rolling out new routes in Muscat. The proposed Mineral Railway project in Al Wusta, Oman, is an attempt by the Sultanate of Oman to leverage its vast minerals resources in the southern and central parts of the country. Developed by the Implementation Support and Follow-up Unit (ISFU) of the Diwan of the Royal Court, the planned railway is expected to carry 30 million tonnes of minerals each year. Once completed, it will connect processing plants in Duqm and the Dhofar region to those in the south-west and Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
